In the city – Heippa! Olin viime viikon lopulla siis New Yorkissa, niinkuin edellisessä postauksessa mainitsinkin. Viimeksi olin joskus kesällä ja oli kyllä kiva taas käydä! Saavutaan aina illalla ja yleensä käyn vaan ostamassa ruokaa ja sitten meen aikaisin nukkumaan. Oos joskus koittanyt käydä vähän muuallakin sillon ekana iltana, mutta oon aina niin poikki ettei siitä kiertelystä tuu mitään. Tällä kertaa kuitenkin käytiin yhen kollegan kans Century 21-outletissä siinä lähellä ja sen jälkeen näytin samalle kollegalle mistä löytyy lähin Whole Foods. Century 21:ssä kattelin Awsille takkia, mutta yllättäen siellä ei ollutkaan juuri mitään isoja kokoja. En sitten tiedä oliko isot koot menny vai oliko niitä koskaan ollutkaan. Ei oo kuulkaa helppoa löytää vaatteita jos ns. normikoot ei passaa 😀 Sunnuntaina kateltiin Itiksessä kenkiä Awsille ja todettiin (taas) että melkein kaikissa malleissa isoin koko on 46-47… No, eipähän tuu osteltua liikaa!
In the city – Hello! In the end of last week I was in New York, like I mentioned in my last post. Last time I was there was in the summer and it was nice to visit again! We always arrive there in the evening and normally I just go to buy some food and then come back to the hotel and go to sleep early. Some times I have tried to do more on that evening, but I’m always so tired that it’s not really worth it. This time, however, I went out with a colleague and we went to Century 21 (an outlet) near our hotel and after that I showed my colleague where the nearest Whole Foods is. In Century 21 I looked for a jacket for Aws, but to my surprise there were almost no big sizes. I don’t know if they were sold out of if there had ever been any big sizes. I can tell you, it is not easy to find clothes if you are outside of the so called normal size range 😀 On Sunday we were looking for shoes for Aws here in Helsinki and we noticed (once again) that the biggest sizes of almost all models are 46-47… Well, can’t shop too much, that’s for sure!
Seuraavana päivänä heräsin ennen herätystä hyvin nukutun yön jälkeen. Harvoin tulee nukuttua noin sikeästi layovereilla! En tiiä pitääkö sittenkin ottaa tavaksi kävellä saapumisiltana itsensä aivan loppuun, jos kerta noin hyvin tulee sitten nukuttua. Yleensä en juuri isompia shoppaile reissuilla, paljolti siksi ettei lentoemännän palkalla paljo mälläillä. Tällä kertaa mulla oli kuitenkin missiona shopata Victoria’s Secretillä ja Nature Republicilla. Olin googletellu Nature Republicin kaupan ja suuntasin sinne ekana. Kun nousin metropysäkiltä kadulle, huomasin siinä nenäni edessä valtavan VS:n liikkeen, jonne meninkin sitten ensin. En oo ennen ostanut VS:n alusvaatteita, mutta nyt päätin kokeilla. Onhan ne kyllä kauniita! Halusin myös ostaa uuden meikkipussin VS:ltä.
The next day I woke up before my alarm after a good night sleep. It’s not often that I sleep so well on a layover! Maybe I should make it a habit to walk more in the evening so I’ll be completely exhausted at night, if that makes me sleep so well. Normally I don’t shop much on my trips, mainly because not much of shopping can happen with a flight attendant’s salary. This time, however, I had decided to shop a little in Nature Republic and Victoria’s Secret. I had googled the Nature Republic shop and that’s where I headed first. When I came up from the metro station to the street, I saw a huge VS store right in front of me. So I went there first. I hadn’t bought underwear from VS before, so this was my first time. Oh boy, their stuff is beautiful! I also wanted to buy a new make-up bag from VS.
Me lähdetään iltapäivällä lentokentälle ja aina suunnittelen palaavani hotellille hyvissä ajoin, että ehdin vähän huilata ennen lentoa. Yleensä aikaa sitten meneekin sen verran, että huilaamiset jää aika lyhyeksi. Tällä kertaa kuitenkin sain aikaiseksi palata mid townista takaisin down towniin ihan hyvissä ajoin. Muistin, että siinä hotellin lähellä on yks kirjakauppa ja menin vielä käymään siellä. Ostin yhden kirjan ja kun mulla oli vielä aikaa, otin kirjakaupan kahvilasta kahvin ja istuskelin kahvilassa tovin lukemassa mun uutta kirjaa. Ihanaa! Siitä sitten ruokakaupan kautta takaisin hotellille. Toivoin just ens kuulle taas Nykkiä. Se paluu on kyllä karmiva, kun ollaan aamulla Helsingissä. Siinä on sitten päivä kaupungilla plus työyö takana ja uusi päivä taas edessä. Siitäkin huolimatta tykkään käydä 🙂
We leave to the airport in the afternoon and I always plan to return to the hotel in a good time to have some time to relax before the flight. Most of the times I end up returning to the hotel so late that I don’t have too much time to rest. This time I managed to leave mid town and return to down town in a good time. I remembered that there is a book store near our hotel so I went there. I bought a book and because I still had time, I took a coffee from a café in the book store and sat down to read my new book. Lovely! From there I went to Whole Foods and then to the hotel. I have bid New York for next month again. The return is brutal, because we arrive to Helsinki in the morning. That means I have a day in the city plus a night at work behind me and a new day ahead. Regardless of that, I still like visiting the city 🙂
